3D Services

Not everyone has thought about having something 3D scanned before because it’s a relatively new industry. Here, I offer some ideas for you to contemplate.

People & Events

People at events and ceremonies can be captured in 3D and in some cases I can also make perfect enough scans for them to be 3D printed and even animated.

There are a lot of deciding factors for good scans of large groups (as they need to stay perfectly still with no blinking) but I’ve scanned individuals and couples successfully.

Spaces

A few of my high end clients use the 3D spaces and scenes I capture for virtual production sets. This saves them traveling with actors, equipment and crew. They can also put visual effects in the scenes, like fires, smoke and water that wouldn’t be allowed in reality.

This type of realism from a 3D copy has other benefits for the owners of the heritage and cultural areas, especially when weather and natural disasters take their toll with time. Unfortunately, we also live in times where vandalism and closures to religious buildings is all too common. This is where using a smartphone can be especially useful for low budget heritage preservation societies.

Objects

The smallest objects I’ve scanned have been shellfish, dragonflies and mushrooms. These are simple things to practice 3D scanning with and most people are usually good at them within a few attempts.

I see 3D scanning more as a way of capturing memories and collecting 3D assets that can be sold or used in my own kind of art.

Larger scans are also a service I offer for festivals and ceremonies. Check out my ‘Large Area Scans’ page here.
